YouTube is turning multipart Shorts into a navigable series rather than leaving every episode as a separate stop in the feed. Its new format builds on Creator Shows and adds custom thumbnails; the rollout covers creators in the YouTube Partner Programme.
From a clip to the next episode
When a viewer encounters an episode in the Shorts feed, a watch-series button opens a dedicated feed with controls for moving backwards or forwards between episodes. A series appears as a single thumbnail on the channel, with a Shorts marker in the Shows tab on web and mobile and in the Playlists shelf on TV.
Creators can convert an existing playlist or start a new show, but a Shorts series must contain only portrait or square Shorts lasting no more than 180 seconds. The default when converting a playlist is non-serial, with the newest episode first; stories intended to run in order need the serial setting, which lists episodes oldest first.
Microdramas are growing on television, too
Alongside the 6.5 billion views, YouTube reports that microdrama watch time rose more than 50% year on year and TV views of those videos increased more than 90%. These are the platform's own figures, not a measurement of the entire microdrama market.
