What Meta launched

Meta has consolidated a growing set of paid features into Meta One, a subscription service spanning Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Meta AI. The company says more than 50 features are included across plans for individuals, creators and businesses, with single-app subscriptions starting at $2.99 a month and individual bundles starting at $7.99.

The service is available globally, although Meta warns that plans, benefits, pricing and availability can vary by region, app and account. The company says the core experiences in its apps and everyday Meta AI usage will remain free.

AI usage is becoming a subscription lever

The clearest change is that Meta is putting heavier use of compute-intensive AI behind paid tiers. Core and Premium subscribers receive more image and video generation with Meta AI, including tools powered by Muse, as well as more use of features such as Instagram Restyle and voice effects. Meta says that in early testing, more than half of bundled-plan subscribers used both AI and expression features, and that AI tools were among the leading reasons people subscribed.

The same subscription also reaches creators and businesses

Creator and business bundles start at $14.99 a month and combine verification, analytics, publishing and account-management tools with greater access to Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp. Higher tiers rise to $149 and $499 a month and add more agent capacity for teams. Meta says it plans to add further agent skills for marketing, business operations, content creation and optimisation.

Fifteen million is an adoption signal, with an important caveat

Meta says the phased introduction has already reached 15 million subscriptions and trials. Reuters independently reported the same company figure. It should not be read as 15 million paying customers because Meta explicitly combines active subscriptions with trials and does not break out conversion, churn or revenue by plan.

What to watch next

Meta says Meta One will expand to Edits and its AI glasses. The more consequential question is whether paid AI allowances become a durable second revenue layer on top of advertising, especially as media generation and business agents consume more compute. Useful evidence will be paid conversion after trials, retention by tier, regional pricing and whether Meta keeps increasing the amount of AI capability reserved for subscribers while maintaining a meaningful free baseline.
